A small, forward-thinking producer making minimal-intervention Barossa wines that sidestep the region's big-and-bold cliche.
Yelland & Papps is part of the new wave reshaping how people think about Barossa wine. Working with old-vine fruit but a light touch in the winery, Susan and Michael Papps make fresher, more transparent wines - vibrant grenache, savoury shiraz and an excitable "Devote" range.
Private tastings are by appointment, Monday to Friday, at the winery on Nuraip Road, Nuriootpa. If your idea of the Barossa is stuck in port-and-sledgehammer reds, a visit here will gently update it.
It pairs well with the other small grenache specialists scattered around Nuriootpa and Greenock.
